a little backed up on the ole blog here, i got a new temp job! so i've been working m-f again thank goodness. here's some stuff found in the past month.

recent finds in northern wa...

it's been a little while since posting new finds, found during employment :)

i have a few basics "rules" i try to stick with.
-no more than $10 for "wall art"
- i get rid of at least 1 old thing when i bring in 1 new (N does too)
-if i'm not sure, i'll set the item back down & keep looking. if it nags in my head i may go back.
i actually get a thrill out of NOT buying things & being able to put something back over half of the time. my taste ranges in everything from hand made wood stuff to ethnic art to toys!

i hope you've gotten around to "Get the gear" on the below post. i mentioned getting a nice lamp & chari a couple auctions ago & here they are. i can't wait for this saturdays..it's got a ton of stuff so far.

Bham eating out continued..Morrie's Drive-In

we had never stopped at this place last time we lived here. when we went to Q&M's house a couple weeks ago, we passed it again. i started craving it..any drive-in, hamburger "dive" eat place is something i need to try. usually you get a good burger & the prices are way more affordable than "sit down" dining. the people that work at the smaller joints are usually more customer friendly & keep the places super clean.

Morrie's was a great stop for a quick, cheap bite! only thing i didn't realize- the delux cheeseburger didn't have onions. i must me becoming an onionhead..i did miss that. they have shakes to try next time.

the missing garage sale item...

put straight to use...$2.00!! i've wanted one for a while. the drawer glides up & down so smoothly.

& i found a painting for my boss whose bday is on wednesday. i wrapped it before i took a picture though. only $3 :) she likes garage sales so i think she'll appreciate it.

garage sale treasures..or extra stuff we couldn't live without...

it's been a while, but we finally went garage sale-ing again on saturday.

got the cool wood card box for $5, each SPODE plate was $2! (my mom has this set & every year for christmas we'd pull them out-the hand wash & dry them that nite, i'm going to get N a set to so we each have one), hooka staff $1 & the heavy glass blue vase...$4
we got the plate, staff & card box at the same place. vase was down the street.

N found it & they only wanted $1! i was psychically trying to get them to say that when he asked, so our total would be an even $10. (little ocd there)

weezie has discovered her hops & can now get up to the pass-through counter. she likes to help N cook.

tomorrow i have a first date with a new dentist. i'm not going to bring in my list of work done & see what he says instead. i already warned them i don't want to be up sold on "deep cleanings" & i don't plan to wait over 30 min past my appointment to be seen (emergency's don't count). we shall see how it goes. it'd be so nice if they had tv there.

a "new" couch...

the past few months i've been half-heatedly looking for a replacement for our chaise. we inherited it from a friend, who had it probably 4 years..in total at least a decade old. there were rips in the fabric on the cushion so we had to sit on a blanket to avoid further tearing, it was getting stinky & not the most comfortable to sleep on those nites.

i look on craigs list. found a nice looking one, but the seller never contacted back. then i saw one this week & emailed. received contact back! i had to wait for N to get home to look at the picture, so i couldn't commit to seeing it that nite. someone else was scheduled to look at it so i figured it would be there if it was. next morning i had an email in my inbox saying she/he never came over and if i wanted to see it, i could. arrangements were made & off we went. turned out to be super close. we sat on it, nodded & paid for it. included in their firm price was delivery, which we needed. N helped the guy load it in his truck & back we home we headed. the seller left, i rearranged the living room, then off we went to dump the old chaise. fortunately there is room at our place for you to do that.

long story short...there are some stains, but that's ok. doesn't smell too bad...just like the previous owners so that will go away & it's comfy to lay on! the total cost.. $75

tree in corner..one nite i'll get a shot of the lights..tonite it was pissing me off. the lights are orange on top, white & purple around the bottom. found out 3 white strands didn't work this year so we substitute our halloween lights. it reminds me a a tequila sunrise or the mamba candy.
