Get the GEAR!!!!!!!

i'm lovin Portlandia. they did a sketch recently that was so high-larious. especially with the company i'm working at now.
the link below goes to hulu. it's about 2 1/2 minutes long. almost every line cracks me up.
http://www.hulu.com/watch/335494/portlandia-get-the-gear

i'm back online, thou wireless isn't working..only the ethernet. i'm sure a call to comcast is in order but i'm going to put it off for a little while. we've still been going to auctions. i got a nice glass lamp that seems 60's-ish & a cool wood/leather chair w/footstool. i'll put up pictures soon. i promise.

work has been super busy. i'm still temping, but it's looking good for permanent position in the next few months. they fired the guy that was my "boss" there a couple weeks ago. so things have shifted, i do more work. at least i'm used to doing lots of work from all my past jobs. the people there are cool so it's a nice place to come in to everyday.

i'll be back.   soon!

trailer park boys kickAsS!

trolling on netflix lately i came across this series from our HIgh-larious neighbors to the north. like my much loved Corner Gas series, i've become addicted to the Trailer Park Boys. there are 7 seasons & 2 full length movies. we watched the movies first and are on season 3 now.

it's about 3 best friends who live in a trailer park in nova scotia, canada. they're only really good at robbing places & growing weed (but usually end up busted). the park is "managed" by a crazy drunk guy lahey & his shirtless sidekick randy who are also trying to bust the boys.

jim & randy

ricky on the right barely finished grade 9 & lives in a car loaned by julian. bubbles in the middle takes care of all the cats in the park. he lives in a shed & loves his freedom. he calls the cats "free-range" kitties. juilian on the left is the "smart one" though really they're all pretty equal on the IQ level, just in different areas. julian likes to try to come up legit ways to make money that never quite work out right.
ricky driving his car/house with the boys. julian always has a rum & coke, but it doesn't' seem to me like any type of copy of big lebowski...it just fits his character also. ricky's always bumming smokes, eating pepperoni & smoking weed. bubbles tries to keep everyone together and somewhat out of trouble.

Wipeout, Big Brother 10, MLB All-Star game, HURL, Tori & more...

last nite was tv mecca in our living room. not only did N get 15 whole innings of the MLB All-Star game, i got game shows AND reality shows!

HURL 9pm- new on G4. the contestants eat food..then forced into an "extreme activity", some hurl...others don't and go on to the second food intake comp and to the 2nd "extreme activity". yes the winner is the person who does not hurl. the guy that won last nite had a great strategy of making upchucking sounds which eventually cause his last opponent to blow chucks..winning him the grand prize $1000! yup 1 grand.

Big Brother 10 9pm- is back!!! yeah. although i didn't get to watch it complete yesterday but we did catch the POV comp and the ceremony. it always gets better once they get rid of some excess people too. hopefully that remy lady and jerry will go soon. old people that act old are never fun. Evel Dick acted young and he won it all!

Wipeout 8pm- the new abc show based on MXC from Japan. it's ok but i hope they get some variety on the stunts soon. it's a little lackluster by now when you compare to MXC of old.

I Survived a Japanese Game Show 9pm- abc again. pretty self-explanatory. a group of US folks are flown to Japan to compete on a game show their and eliminate people along the way. last nites baby milk challenge was pretty funny.

Deadliest Catch 9pm- i love this show (always have since the beginning specials Discovery did on fishing in Alaska). whatever happened to Eric and the Rollo?

Flipping Out 10pm- Jeff Lewis fired his house manager after catching him up to no good on a "nanny cam". smart guy. i can relate to Jeff a lot..especially with the rituals and ocd's.

Tori & Dean 10pm- i've always been a 90210 fan. still watch it on the soap network 2-4 daily. i watched the Inn Love saga and now we're back in BH. Dean seems like a nice guy and i LOVED his comment to Tori's uncle when they went to check out his shell shack. sure she's annoying at times but so am i.

thank goodness Hells Kitchen is over for now and no new Reaper's are set to show soon. i don't know if i can handle more. time to warm up yee ole VCR. Yup we've got 2 and we use them to. can't afford the DVR or other crap. we're old school all the way.

p.s. i sent out my resume for 7 jobs today...even though the car place called and said i will be lucky to get my car back on saturday. good friggin times.

missing the old 80's shows?

i am!
we've been watching Riptide now. i love that show so much! when i was young my best friend T and i were always pretending we were PI's. she had a thing for Joe Penny and i for Perry King. of course the Boz was great too, but young girls are focused more on appearance.

this show is so cool. the theme song is awesome. even though we watch it on dvd, we don't fast forward through the opening credits. Murray is always inventing new tools and toys which are commonplace now. even the dialogue is advanced. they talk about being online and cell phones. the clothing is total 80's.

i recommend these dvds!

next on our list is airwolf.

so much...

going on.
i've been wanting to post for a couple days but work's been busy and i'm still nice and sinusey so when i get home, all i want to do is stare at the wall. thank goodness the tv is in front of it!

big brother has started again. i'm loving it but i'm also not. why aren't i? because they started the show with the cast on thursday but are pretending on tv that it started the tuesday after that. so it's pretty frustrating knowing what goes on a week away from when it will air. if cbs wants people to buy the feeds, they should have figured this out. why should those with feeds even bother to watch the tv show b/c it's such old news by then. (i don't have the feed but i have a great site to check). very strange.

my riptide, season 2 dvd's should be here soon. i loved that show so much!! maybe watching that and 90210 are also why i'm particular to living down here. tv does mold your mind! haha.

alrighty..back to work.

dvds...

seeing as how there's a writers strike going on, none of my favorite shows are new episodes anymore.

so now i've been getting dvds. i finally caved and bought season 1 of corner gas. i got that a couple days ago and it's been so nice to watch something new! jackass 2.5 and the cky cd/dvd are both on the way to my house now.

i love me some reality shows, but there haven't been any new ones. we've got project runway (3rd season i think), and the race is almost over! at least in february big brother and survivor will be back.

you know what would be cool if someone could do?
create a mirror on a computer screen...huh? patent pending..patent pending

Corner Gas -- WGN show

down here we (for some reason) get the WGN channel from Chicago. there is this show they play called Corner Gas. it is located in Dog River, Saskatchewan. this is my new favorite show(excluding non-reality or older sitcoms still current). it's kinda seinfeld-equse in that there is a lot of dialogue. but it is hilarious!

this is Brent Butt the main guy & Creator/Writer/Producer/Director

this is Hank is best friend
also included are Brent's parents, his co-worker Wanda, the local police and Lacey (the new owner of the coffee shop).
if you want to check out more info about this fantastic canadian comedy, check out: http://www.cornergas.com/

Analog TV GONE in Feburary 2009!!!

this is important! seriously.
for those of you still using your rabbit ears, they are about to go down the hole (rabbit hole).

while watching tv this weekend -- you do learn things from TV! -- i saw a commercial that kinda freaked me out. you may have also seen it this weekend. for some reason the ONLY channel i saw the commercial on was on the SOAP network. yes, i was watching my 90210 re-runs this weekend.

those of you that don't have a digital cable line for your tv will be SOL. i know V, AB &UJ, J, and my brother might be interested in this website. http://www.dtvtransition.org/
they are offering a coupon people can sign up for so they will only have to pay a minimal amount for the "free tv".

here's the "what you need to know" info from the website:

TV sets that currently receive programming through cable or satellite are not likely to be affected by the transition to digital. However, TV sets that rely on "over the air" broadcasting with an antenna (set-top or rooftop) to receive a signal will be affected by the cutoff of analog broadcasts in 2009. You will need to consider one of the following options:

1) Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box that plugs into an existing television. The boxes, which are expected to cost between $50 - 70 will be available for purchase in 2008. Beginning on January 1, 2008, U.S. households can request up to two coupons valued at $40 each. Each coupon can go toward the purchase of a single set-top converter box that will allow you to continue watching FREE "over-the-air" television on an analog set.

2) Subscribe to a cable, satellite or telecommunications service provider if all desired local broadcast stations are carried by that service.

3) Purchase a new television set with a built in digital tuner.

Any of these steps will ensure that "over-the-air" television consumers will continue to receive programming.

i might try signing up for a coupon just in case.

Big Brother 9!!!

the application is finally online. i just found it and it's all i can do to sit here calmly and not delve into answering it. the hard part is you have to send in a 2 minute (no shorter, no longer) VHS tape. I need a snazzy original idea for this.
any ideas??? seriously i need ideas!

something happened while in the cafeteria today. funniest thing.
there is a basket of individually wrapped saltine crackers next to the soup. sometimes i'll take a pack or two to snack on...no biggie. today i saw an older guy putting half the basket in his bag!! i was literally staring at him doing it (hoping he'd look up and notice that) but he didn't. i gazed around the cafe and saw another woman a little behind me watching him also! we both made eye contact and exchanged flabbergasted expressions. some people are sooo shisty. but not my deal, not my job.

ab & uj made it down on sunday to drop off our new outdoor storage cabinet. once i strip it and paint it i'll post a picture. we went to sidestreet and had a delicious lunch! finalized our t-day plans of flank steak (my favorite..i DON"T like turkey but i always take the polite tiny piece and cover it in cranberry sauce). but i love me some mashed potatoes!

Hollywood Writers Strike...

i'm available to write...any show you need...with this blog i have mastered the art of the script/screenplay.
i can be paid in swag, vacations or cash.
i just read the office is done for now since steve isn't going to cross the picket lines. i hope they've got some in the can already. i did read that everybody hates chris has already finished up for the season so at least i'll get to see all those!
i'm sure my stuff would be better then about a quarter of what we watch on tv already.

10/30/07

almost halloween...

i've got my nails painted black for the occasion (thanks C!) and that's about as far as i'm going this year. i've already got the black cat.

another radio bam re-run. this re-run was a show that him and missy did before they got married. totally boring and unexciting since it's not topical anymore. the shows with novak, dico, gee, uncle shitbird or chad on them are so much better and more entertaining. oh well. maybe soon we'll get some new ones or they should drop him from sirius if he can't produce. if my contract was up now and these were the crappy shows they were re-playing i wouldn't re-new my subscription.

i realized last nite while i was watching tv that i'm super hesitant to get into a new show now days. it seems like when i start liking a series, the network decides to cancel it. why do they hate me so?(arrested development, futurama anyone??) i've started watching pushing daisys on abc. that show has been pretty good so far but i'm nervous as to how they're going to continue it. the plot has been the same since the first show basically. i love the narration and the seuss-esque backgrounds and cadence. everybody hates chris still awesome and i hope they keep it around for a few more years. tonite reaper is on. that's another one i'm enjoying. the main guy in it was on a show called grounded for life i watch religiously on the weekends in re-runs. it's also set in seattle so that makes it kinda more fun. especially when a character was going to drive 7 hrs to a concert in boise!

Kid Nation

i've been watching the kid nation online since it started. the first couple of shows i wasn't too impressed with and generally annoyed by most of the kids. this week they had new elections for the town council and that was interesting!

the show is a micro chasm of our society. even though the kids are young, they behave the same way they're adult counterparts in the world behave. i was really impressed with a 10 yr named zach (sp?). was i that smart when i was young?

i wish i had had the chance to be on this show. the more i watch it the more sucked in i get and i almost forget how young they really are. each episode they give a "gold star" to one deserving member which includes $20,000. the kid that got it this week had been busting his butt for it since day one. he was older and it was obvious he was trying hard so he would win the prize. what you find out once he wins it is the reason he tried so hard..that it will be his college fund. he was so happy about being able to afford that dream.

the kids are alright..as the who might say

Ever watched a TV show & wondered "what happened?"

there is a show on hgtv called Dream House. this show has been on for almost 10 years but each season follows a different family or person during the construction of said Dream House. back in the early 1990's there was a season i was obsessed with.

Bruno Reich was the homeowner, general contractor, architect, landscaper and more. while watching the season you learn of his struggles with the town zoning committees, meet his tenet of 10 years(!) Lara and i think there were a couple pets there to. how things have changed by the end of the season.
Bruno meets a lady, gets married, basically kicks Lara back to the northwest and her family (by moving girlfriend into a house L thought she'd end up living in as a rental), has a kid and still doesn't manage to complete an entire room of his house. it's fascinating...like a car accident.
at the end they show him trying to baby proof his gothic style house and trying to convince wife to move to the country and build their "dream house". all while wifey is whining about everything.

why is it that woman try to change men SO much! i mean she knew his deal, it wasn't a secret and there were local articles written about it too. she comes in and thinks she can do what no one else can and make him finish the house. of course she has added in new "wants" of her own and that the child (trap) will need. hahaha. the completion of the house didn't happen and listening to her whine about the construction she moved herself right into was so annoying. she got rid of his friend and tenant of ten years so you'd think she'd be happy, but they never are- are they?

i wish they would show a current update to see what's going one. i'm dying to find out if the house was finished, if he's still married and how much therapy the child is in.

the fine living channel is showing the series again on monday nites if you want to check it out. check local listings.

Are you ready for some Football?...

and so it begins today. what does that mean to me (i'm sure you're dying to know)

football means...
grocery shopping on saturdays (
N, our fearless shopper, won't have to leave the apartment complex... i think laundry can still be done on sundays)
listening to hours of earnest debate and cursing directed at the TV and the announcers
disappointment
...for those of you Sea-town fans no more explanation is necessary
$$$... if i can manage to win the f-ball pool a couple times this season it makes up for watching the games all weekend
possibly the purchase of an additional TV for the LR (a little small one)...since it is not possible for us to sit in different rooms watching TV. there are just too many important things going on for us to be a wall apart.

my friend C at work will be gone for like 3 weeks. i think i'll be ok (since it's all about me, right jk). she's been so nice to vent to about stupid stuff. C have a GREAT Trip!

it's finally cooling off! it's so crazy the difference humidity makes. that's why i'm a west coast brat. we're spoiled with dry heat and i love it. i'm sure there are many great reasons for people to live where it's humid, to each their own. me, i like not sweating all day and nite (inside with fans pointed directly at my face) maybe if i had AC it would be different but that would cost more in bills and i'm cheap.

a couple years ago i was hypotized by the shiny glow of the TV and bought this. what a great idea right? it'll run all day and my car will be so chilly i'll need a sweatshirt when i leave work. it said to make sure the car is in direct sunlite. ok, we have no trees or shade in the parking lot here so i'm good on that. hahahaha silly me. direct means you have to take it off the window and physically hold it as close to the sun as you can (for me it's about 3 feet armstretch) how will that cool the car if you holding it outside you may be wondering. answer: it doesn't! what a great idea if it was functional. i returned it and after some work even got the credit back. there are lots of people i've read about online who bought this and had to battle to get their money back. i'm sure you recognize it with the picture...don't laugh i really thought it would be great if it worked..and it would be!

8/30/07

reality shows..

I admit it..i like watching reality shows..and tonite is a Big brother 8 elimination. i hope it's amber but you never know. i think next year i may try out for the show. once i sent in a tape for MTV real world (the 10th anniversary edition) but nothing came of that. which i was cool with. but a 3 month vacation (trapped in a house with crazy people and cameras 24/7) sounds like it might be a good time.

on another note we're going to see viva la bands in oct. i'm so excited to finally see CKY live! just had to share :)

this blogging could become addicting...
