you may have heard, it's been a bit hot in our neck of the woods. the weekend was pretty rough, but monday was the worse..for a couple reasons...104 in HB!! & i woke up with a weird sore thing on my gums. when i got home i even sprayed the cats down with the water bottle, they looked so baked. the past couple days have been much cooler..but really humid which us folk aren't used too.
gum issue: i called my new dentist i haven't seen yet. my first appointment is next month. he got me in that afternoon thank goodness. after taking an xray & checking around he told me it was a virus. basically a cold sore on my gums. he advised rinsing with warm salty water & switching up with peroxide. he said if it was a bacteria, antibiotics would help, but it wasn't that. he still wrote up an rx for penicillin "in case". i think it's more a habit of our society that people want a pill to fix it. i assured him i wasn't going to use it,but if things got worse i'd be back before the next visit. i know it's due to stress..work stress...that's all.
but..tomorrow my bro is coming! N gets to pick him up at the airport since i've got a facil scheduled (thanks j). i've had it scheduled since before we knew & it's just after work so i'll be home pretty quickly. i've never really had one before. it'll be weird having someone else pick at my face. i like to do that so we'll see their techniques. :)

i think karma is working...
i was thinking about getting a snickerdoodle this am. the cafe usually is out after 9, so i went in before work. scanned the shelves & didn't see any. fortunately (karma-ickly?), there was a little bit of a line so i actually looked at the very bottom...there were the day olds. snickerdoodles! so not only did i get 1- i got 2; for the price of 1 (being "day olds").
i needed to schedule a dentist appointment. which means finding another dentist.
last one i had totally lied saying they were in my network, but weren't & i got billed,not worth a fight since the service was provided & the hygienist was the best i've ever had]
my guy before him, lets just say the last appointment i had about a year ago really had me not impressed.
i called one i found online, close to home with a couple good reviews. the lady who answered the phone was obviously rushed with something/one else, but was very professional. she took my name & info, called metlife to make sure they could take me, then called me back to let me know. she was aware xrays wouldn't be covered, due to the last place. which was good because: 1) they wouldn't try to make me get (& pay for) them knowing they weren't covered 2) i HAVE the xrays from the last place. they were sooo fancy there, they did them on digital - the whole mouth. i made them email it to me. i now have a jpeg to bring with me to the next place (episode) current xrays...see, i made sure & got something for the extra $$ they made me spend there. ;) i'm not that much of a push over.
appointment scheduled for next month.
i went to pick up my zomig for the month. got home & took them out of the bag. i started shaking, squealing, crying & stammering all at the same time. N was like what the fuck? finally, i was able to get out that the insurance company had finally ok'd me getting 9 pills a month!!!! for my $60 - top'o'the line copay. i've never had more then 6 allowed since it was introduced (about 10 years ago). this means that i should have just enough to cover me every month, without having to try to hoard some or get a couple of bad days with no pills.
good stuff.

since my aunt asked...
haha..not like i wasn't going to tell you about my dentist visit on monday.
the office is in the same building as B's pediatrician. it's a nice office for sure...a few waterfalls and a giant flat screen showing invisalign ads over & over.
first i meet with a "case worker" [glorified dental assistant]. then i went to the hygienist. she was very nice and knew her stuff for sure. one of the best cleanings i've had in forever-no complaints there. she did the gum receding measurements & my back rich molar hit 666 so she put some powdered antibiotic in the gums in 2 spots. [OMGas i type this-cold chill-i'm thinking..does that affect my bc pills! shiet] i digress...which cost some out of pocket there but that was ok since i'd never had this before & if it works that's great.
meet the dentist after the cleaning. found out i have 3 teeth with cavities & 2 crowns that need replacing. 1 i knew about for a while, the second was a surprise. [as we know] most dentist i've been to are morons who apparently can't get a damm crown on my stubs well enough so there isn't a gap around the gums. i hate how much money they've cost me over the years re-fixing others mistakes & that i had to declare bk years ago because of my teeth....ANYWAY
my case worker comes back with the cost breakdown..here comes the FUN part. i come to find out this dentist is an out-of-network dentist for metlife. so everything costs more with him. i'd asked about this in the beginning & i'll assume it was mis-communication on my part & the receptionist for not clarifying the network detail.
do i still get the 3 cavities fixed here & pay a little more then find a new dentist? i can't go get another exam for 6 months so i'm a bit screwed. that's the recap. good times.

garage sale treasures..or extra stuff we couldn't live without...
it's been a while, but we finally went garage sale-ing again on saturday.
got the cool wood card box for $5, each SPODE plate was $2! (my mom has this set & every year for christmas we'd pull them out-the hand wash & dry them that nite, i'm going to get N a set to so we each have one), hooka staff $1 & the heavy glass blue vase...$4

weezie has discovered her hops & can now get up to the pass-through counter. she likes to help N cook.
testing...123tomorrow i have a first date with a new dentist. i'm not going to bring in my list of work done & see what he says instead. i already warned them i don't want to be up sold on "deep cleanings" & i don't plan to wait over 30 min past my appointment to be seen (emergency's don't count). we shall see how it goes. it'd be so nice if they had tv there.

D Day...
which in my world stands for "dentist day".
6 month check-up (w/ no insurance still) i have to keep going whether I pay or not. things are looking good--knock knock knock on wood. i got new toothpaste ($25 later) that's major fluoride so that, with my biotene paste (for dry mouth) and my peroxide for rinsing i "should" be good to go.
oh..except that darn #14. needs a new crown. apparently the current crown is leaking...so that'll run me $1700 unless i can get some insurance. course for that i'll need a full time job. i just keep hoping after the end of january (my 3 month review) they'll let me stay longer and give me insur. i know they would if the company is bringing in money so that's lazy ass salesmen better sell dammit. that seriously sit in the office, maybe call a couple people then complain about not sales. OMG! i want them on commission. the salary they get for 7 people is over $25000 every 2 weeks!! that's what i made this year alone.
christmas is coming. we're almost done with everyone's gifts to ship. this year is a lot slimmer that years past but i'm not going to stress about it. i just want to get N a couple more treats!
sloppy joes and crunchy potatoes for dinner tonite. J is coming over. i can't wait to see how she's doing. it's only been a couple weeks but it seems like forever. S has been out of town now so i'm on call for the hospital. it's very exciting! although i do wake up and check my phone throughout the nite.

crown is on!
after about 3 hours of x-rays, drilling and novocaine shots, my crown fits beautifully.
there was a tiny gap we saw on the xrays on the back side he had to keep working on. Dr George is so awesome! i don't mind that he takes his time. no other dentists i've gone to [and i've been to over 7] have ever taken as much time as he does. i've been there for 3 years and i'm so glad i found them. the girls there are great too!
so today i woke up with my monthly migraine. i've had it all week but it hit me hard this AM. and i've only got 1 zomig left until the 18th when i can refill the rx. oh well. if it's not feeling better in the next hour i'll take it and cross my fingers.
good news about my gpa. he's up in a rehab place in WS. he went to the doc yesterday and the doc discovered he has the bladder of a 79 year old. that's awesome since my gpa is 95!! the other thing going on is an enlarged prostrate. i'm not familiar with the guy stuff [since we women already have enough to figure out with our organs]. i guess that's pretty normal but i'm not sure what they're going to do. in a month he'll have a couple more tests done to figure it out more. he's been trying to walk more so that's great! the sucky part is he'll have his catheter in for a while. i had one when i had my surgery and it was no fun. very uncomfortable for me. i can't imagine how it would be for a guy. ick!

wrong...so wrong
well i did have a quiet afternoon. the loud one did come in early for about an hour and that threw my flow off. and today everyone else is back. JOY!
at least i get to leave early to finish my crown on my tooth i broke at thanksgiving. i know it's taken a while but that's how i have to do it since they work with me on payments. if i only go once a month, work doesn't get mad about me being out [not that i really care if they tried to say something].

sweet homemade chex mix..how i love you!!
this weekend we got our box of awesomeness from D & C. there were 2 bags of homemade chex mix made with mostly all chex cereal. i ate them in 2 days!! there were some fantastic hot chocolate packages (4 down) and homemade peppermint bark. mmmmm....
there are now 4 pieces of bark left.
our x-mas boxes are shipping out today--UPS. YEAH!!!
i went to the dentist today and here's the new picture of my tooth. he basically covered it in the tooth colored filling stuff. that will chill there until 1/14/08 (my next visit) when i go back and he molds this down to a stump and takes the impression for my crown. i'll get a temporary crown after that-- a picture will follow
he did a nice job making me a new tooth! soon the tooth with all the silver in front of the broken one will break and need the same deal. hopefully it'll hang in there for a year at least. :)

on someones bedroom wall, would you think the "person" was strange?
second phase of broken tooth. this is the spackle job dr. g did yesterday. he has to use so much because he drilled out all the silver filling and then we found out i barely have a shell left. i'll have this for about 3 weeks until the next payday/dentist visit. if it happens to wear down before then i can go back and he'll re-apply.

i went to the dentist brite and early this am. Dr. George was great. he drilled out my entire silver filling and we were going to fill it back with the tooth colored stuff but by the time he was done cleaning it out, there was barely a shell of my tooth left. so it's time for the crown. he filled the hole up the the temporary filling stuff and in a month i'll go back and get the build-up on the crown then about a month later i should have my new crown.
on a lighter note our tree is up! it looks great. this week i'll get around to taking a picture so everyone can see it.

You take the good you take the bad ...
and there you have my thanksgiving week.
the good was of course having a fantastic turkey day dinner and a 4 day weekend.
the bad was(is) my 2 and a half day migraine and the latest and greatest which happened last nite. i was having a bowl of crispix and something felt odd. (some of you probably know where this is going) yes, on t-day weekend yours truely breaks her tooth. it's so frustrating since i spend so much to keep them in good shape and there one goes and breaks on me. i called the dentist today and he'll get me in first thing on monday, but if it starts to hurt to call him sooner. this wasn't a tooth he'd ever done work on. i had it filled up in b-ham at the 3rd dentist i saw there. he drilled SO MUCH out of my tooth and filled it with so much silver i knew at some point my tooth around it would break, but why on a holiday weekend?!?!?! argggg if it had waited one week i could have seen the dentist next saturday. so now i get to tell my work i'll be in late on monday. they're going to love that since i was out wednesday with the migraine.
