shootin & sucia island
sunday the 3 of us went out in the Blue Raven for a trip overnite to Sucia Island in the san juans. this was a quick trip since we weren't sure how the cats would do with the overnighter. trip out was smooth...if only i hadn't had to go to the bathroom about an hour in. yikes! but i made it to the island.

friday N talked them into a trip to costco for cat litter, TP & dishwashing soap. we are nothing if not exciting down here. when they were ready to go, C was trying some samples of gourmet popcorn. thank goodness since N got 2 bags of cinnamon bun & 1 other one. i ate the cin bun bags in 3 days, they were so good. i wish we had a membership, then again it could be bad for the weight.
that nite we went to The Market Broiler to eat. we've driven by it since we moved here, but never made it inside. one reason was it's always poppin when we go by. the chowder was good. i had shrimp tempura sushi, i know...oxymoron. a good time was had by all.
saturday i had a lead on another sale. they were game to get up early & head out into parts unknown. turned into a good idea. we were going to hit up this thing called "Cartchella" inCM, but N wrenched his back. so we laid low that nite. hit up dim sum on sunday. after brunch we saw a swap meet close by. checked that out for a while. i bought a book i had growing up. it was part of the halloween book set we put out during that time. N put up ok with it for a while, but then it was obvious the back wasn't too good. went home & chilled. "somehow" we ended up at In & Out for dinner. ;) monday sidestreet for lunch & steaks for dinner at the beach. tuesday am they were off to san deezie for the day/night to hook up with homies, then back up north.
it was nice to be able to relax together. seeing tosh was an awesome bonus to the trailer.

afternoon at the bay... Crescent Bay
when i got hom A was here.
Awesome weather yesterday for bro's first full day in town! after a de-LISH-ous lunch at sidestreet, we went down to laguna beach. there is a great little sweet spot right off the 101 J first took us too years ago. it's not usually too crowded & yesterday it was basically to ourselves. i hedged before we left & didn't bring my wetsuit. i should have. it was totally warm enough for normal people, but i couldn't bring myself to get my head wet/cold, so i couldn't bodyboard :( i could frolic in the surf like i like to though, i did miss J. gots some fun pics below & a little vid.
A had brought down some dungeness crab he'd caught the DAY BEFORE up north. i whipped up some cream cheez, avocado, crab wontons for the fry daddy. A & N had 2 of the omaha steaks. then we had crab legs. soo good & i totally failed on taking a picture.
right now N & A are at the car store for more stuff for the jeep, i've got freshly cubed hashbrowns cooking & once their back, crab eggs benedict w/ hashbrowns & "dirty" bacon will be had.

hot HOT! final days of summer...
to follow-up on our monkey cat sitting week. he got super sick on thursday. N came home at lunch & noticed he was acting kinda weird, but he was only there for about 20 minutes. we got home from work & he was meowing really loudly- barely moving. it looked like his stomach was swollen & that was the pain. i called our vet to bring him in the next morning to be checked out. he kept acting worse, so we decided to bring him up to his house & stay there with him for the nite thinking he'd be more comfortable [even though he's was great with us all week & the cats got along fine]. about 10 pm he looked so bad, panting a lot & crying. we noticed little drips of bloody urine shortly after. i really got nervous. N said if this was happening to him, he'd go straight to the ER. that made the decision. we called our vets ER & brought him in. it was right next to N's work so it was close. they took him back, x-rayed & his bladder was completely full - the urethrae was blocked! if he'd gone much longer, the vet said the urine would have backed up to his kidneys & poisoned him. we were very lucky! i was in contact with J in FL the whole time, sent her a text of the xray. the next AM we picked him up to take to our vet for the next couple nites until he went home on sunday. we saw him on saturday & he looked so much better! he's lost some weight which was needed [17.3 lbs at the ER! big boy!]. when he saw us he totally recognized us & seemed happy. they have to feed him wet food now [which he hates] & watch him pretty well.
i had pepper-cat, a male, for 15 yrs & he never had this [knock wood]. apparently it's very common in male cats for the urethrae to get blocked due to there anatomy. there is a surgery they can have to get it "straighten out", but you can bet it's pricey! if you have a male cat & he seems to be sick in a quick amount of time[like less than 24 hrs], don't wait around! the vet said his T-cells were low which probably caused the infection.
after monkey's visit...my bro came down last tuesday nite with his new gf. they stayed thru sunday morning. unfortunately, i had to work during the week since i've missed so may days so far. i was able to get off a couple hours early 2 days which was nice. N took wednesdday off & they went down to the beach for the day. thurs & fri they went to a laguna beach cove while we were at work during the day. that seemed to work out ok. i wish i could have had more time off, but it is a tough time with work for me. we went up to J's on saturday for lunch. got to see B after a month & half. i'm happy to say she totally remembered me. she kinda remembered N [she loves his dark goatee]. she was fascinated by my bro's tattoos-trying to grab them off his arm. i don't think she'd really seen big color bands before. she's pretty smart & almost crawling!
we got J's leather love seat & matching chair so we were able to get rid of our old broken down ones. moving them was super fast. then J brought B down for a dip in the pool-she loved it. total water baby thank goodness! even better-the pool was actually empty of other people.
today phone is off & i only have to go to the pharmacy later to get my zomig for the month. this week should be back to our normal pace. next thrusday i get my cyst out!! i plan to take pictures [err have N take pictures] so i can post them for your viewing pleasure :) i can't wait!

i know, i owe, it's off to post i go...
i found out last sunday my gpa passed away. he was a great person who lived into his 90's. there was no sign of anything wrong until saturday when things weren't normal so the people at the house he lived in called 911. a massive infection had taken over his body without an obvious outward signs. he passed away on sunday. they said it was fast and painless and i hope that was true.
i know he's up in heaven lawn bowling, or hanging out with all his friends and brother, or maybe tinkering [a word he used] in god's workshop. there is a memorial celebration on monday [tomorrow] my mom is putting on in seattle. we won't be going up due to work conflicts for me. it's ok though. i know he knows how i feel and he won't be upset.
so this week has been low-profile. work still has me slammed and i think they will continue to do so until my head explodes. i really need health insurance though since the cyst on my upper right shoulder is getting bigger and more painful at times. today we may be having dinner with J&B. i'm planning sloppy joe's.

i promise..i'm not mad my little blog...
my bro brought up me & n's xmas gift. needless to say it's pretty friggin awesome. maybe if you vist, i can show it to you ;)
no big VD plans. just chillin...maybe i can talk n into thai for dinner. mmmmm drunken noodles.
we went up and spent time with little b also. that was great. she's always so good when i'm there.. which i love..there's nothing worse then a baby seeing you then crying to ruin the ole ego.
work is still not bringing in the $$ or signing the contract with the "investor". so hopefully i'll get paid for the past couple weeks on tuesday. i think i'll be ok because we actually got a check from the 1 company that actually sells any of our products. i'd love the company to succeed so i can get health insurance. there's nothing like not having it for 8+ months to freak you out. i'm constantly thinking my appendix is rupturing but i can't afford that bill so who knows what would happen if it did.
the cats are healthy and so are the humans so that's a big plus.

what can i remember...
Thursday, after getting back from the SD airport in N's car we discovered his transmission was totally leaking oil and it had sprayed up the back bumper too. so that's at N's work right now, waiting for the mechanic who fixes the work trucks to get back into town. a dinner of flank steak and cornflake potatoes was enjoyed by all.
Friday started out with a great trip to SideStreet Cafe for lunch. we then went down to Laguna for some snorkeling and wave fun. it was perfect weather. i tried the snorkeling, but the waves were pretty choppy so it was hard to concentrate on the breathing aspect of the snorkel while i was trying to not get knocked by a wave. soon i gave up on that and had fun bodyboarding and playing in the waves. after we showered up N and i took them downtown to check out main street, the pier and to see the sunset.
Saturday we went over to J's and went down to the beach for the day. it was nice. we were going to have a bonfire that nite, but all the spots were filled up. it was a relaxing, lazy day...however i did notice i now have giant sunspot on my forehead. which drives me insane since i'm totally fanatical about SPF and staying out of the sun. so that sucked to see. it looks half brown ewwww.
Sunday...hmmm what happened sunday? oh yeah! A and D borrowed the bikes and rode down to newport to check it out. i had wanted to go down there with them but i know the parking wouldn't be happening on the weekend so i was really glad they were about to go on the bikes. i cooked up a batch of sloppy joe for dinner then we were off to the Malibu Inn to see reggae. U-Roy and Cornel Campbell were both playing!
Monday A borrowed the jeep and went down to San Onfre to play on the beach there and nap in the sun. that nite we finally got to see all of A's pictures from his european vacation and the stories that went with them. good times!
Tuesday we got up, hung then took off for SD. my car started getting super hot super fast when we got of the 5 for Pedros. so we ate and let it cool down and A tried to get more of the air bubbles out. we were on a bit of a time crunch to get to the airport so many prayers were said. we did make it and as we were dropping them off the temp started it's climb again. so with the heater on and trying to mentally push cars forward, we made it back k on the freeway and got home.
next week i'm taking it into the dealership and asking them to BLEED the system. that's the issue. A said he'd call ahead for me and talk to them so they already will know what we've down and that it ISN"T a friggin head gasket--hello after 5 months of this would i still be driving??? good times. i just want it fixed!!! argggg and it doesn't happen all the time so i was glad it did it with A so he didn't think i was crazy like most people think (not N...he's seen it many times too).
so it was a good time. it was nice to meet D and get to know her a little. and now were back to basics. i'm going to LA to see a movie with J today. she's driving her car so i don't have to stress at all.

done...
i forgot my burned cds. i'll have to email about those.
we were going to be getting a new cat today. N's friend of a friend has 3 cats. this guy and his wife are moving and could only take 2 cats. the cat they were looking for a home for was about 5 months and a tuxedo male. we saw a picture and he is cute. so we thought, discussed and figured this is the time to do it since i've got some time off. today we heard that they are keeping the cat. the wife came home and decided not to get rid of him. i hope they treat all 3 well. i'm not upset, i just want the cats to all be ok.
we got some sad news earlier this week. N's grandma passed away. Virginia was an awesome lady. she was super smart and funny! i'm glad i was able to spend time with her while we lived up north. we had a great time talking about california (where she is from) when we went up for N's brother's wedding. we would send her colorful, fuzzy slippers and robe for christmas so she'd be warm and stylin at her apartment. she will be missed greatly, but i know she'll be watching out for us now more then ever - after she hangs out with some movie stars and her husband.

i didn't mean to get so behind!
won season 3 of Riptide on ebay!
[still missing season 1]
car continued to overheat- saturday N went to get new tires for his car. so in just driving him there to pick the car up [maybe 5 miles] the temp gauge starts climbing again. so we drove straight to the car place. they determined the problem to be the thermostat [even though last month it was the timing belt and water pump but had not check the thermostat???WTF] so $75 later the car was done saturday. we popped the hood when we got home and noticed they'd completely overfilled the coolant reservoir. WTF?? so yesterday i used my trusting straw and siphoned it back down to the MAX line. drove in today and so far so good. car problems suck ass. i'm nervous when i drive all the time, i'm nervous i won't make it in to work one day. i'm nervous something will break and cause and accident. so that is why i don't sleep well and wake up with dread.
this saturday we're going up to ab & ujs. uj and N are going to do the tune-up for me before he goes back north. save a little money there-as long as the car makes it. oii vey
gpa is still in rehab. if he can get out in a couple weeks there is a place for him to stay very close to my mom's house. they can only hold it for a couple weeks so fingers crossed they can figure out how to get him on the recovery road. i know he's trying hard to get better but when you don't really know what's wrong it's hard.
we tried to get our monthly non-grocery shopping done on sunday. perfect time right? everyone is in church then onto their easter brunches. lo and behold, both wal-mart and target were closed! is that a regional thing or were they closed all over? seemed silly since they're open every other religious holiday but not easter? strange. maybe i'm behind the times though.

Busca Italy--last weeks stop
my brother and his friends were there last week. A said they had the biggest lunch in the middle of nowhere. they also met a lady A talked to. she said she knew our family well. i hope he got tons of pictures. that is so cool to find out! it's nice to know the history of one side of the family. gives on a sense of establishment. i'm not sure if establishment is the exact right word here but you might catch my drift.
here are a couple links courtesy of google maps.
