Deming Log Show 2012

a couple weekends ago, D&C came up for a few days with Tosh to hang out. i drug(ed?):) them around on saturday to a swap meet in ferndale, a log show in deming & dinner at rudy's pizza (of course). sadly, my phone wsan't charged so i didn't get any pictures of the day.

the swap meet was at Pioneer Park in ferndale. this year was the 2nd annual, hopefully next years will be as fun. the weather was great for being outside (thank goodness) since outside was pretty much the plan.

i'm lovin Portlandia. they did a sketch recently that was so high-larious. especially with the company i'm working at now.

i'm back online, thou wireless isn't working..only the ethernet. i'm sure a call to comcast is in order but i'm going to put it off for a little while. we've still been going to auctions. i got a nice glass lamp that seems 60's-ish & a cool wood/leather chair w/footstool. i'll put up pictures soon. i promise.

work has been super busy. i'm still temping, but it's looking good for permanent position in the next few months. they fired the guy that was my "boss" there a couple weeks ago. so things have shifted, i do more work. at least i'm used to doing lots of work from all my past jobs. the people there are cool so it's a nice place to come in to everyday.

recently i power washed the back of A's house. this included the side & the moss covered cement walkways on both side. it was fun, thank goodness for the hot weather the beginning of september. even if we aren't working..we've definitely been working.

so finishes my last first week of may at current job. 3 more weeks until notice timeeee. can't wait, but to help my days go by in a more  pleasant manner, i've been watching the falcon cam a lot (it's easy to leave up while doing other stuff). they also have a bunch of other birds you can watch in nests if you click on the different tabs, which is where the owls come from. this is the same type of falcon Harry Potter's Hedwig is.

i've successfully gotten my new checking set up with usaa. i can't wait to cancel chase in 2 weeks. i even asked again if there was any option for me, since my employer doesn't offer direct deposit & the teller basically laughed at me. such great customer service. i miss wamu, but i'm not going to have stockholm's syndrome with chase. fug that!

No Go Honda Power...

N's 84 Honda Civic has been acting up for the past few months. my bro up in bham has been trying to help diagnose over the phone a few times a week after N trys "the next" thing. last weekend he did a few more upgrades & magically, it started. so happy N drove off. a few blocks away its stopped again.

had my facial from J on thursday nite. sooo relaxing & informative! i was talking to facialist about migraines & found out not only did she get them, but all the women in her family do too. what sucky luck! she gave me a couple awesome pressure points for N to push on at the base of my skull next time. it was a great treat & not something i can do for myself so i totally enjoyed it- next up my annual haircut & color :)
when i got hom A was here.

Awesome weather yesterday for bro's first full day in town! after a de-LISH-ous lunch at sidestreet, we went down to laguna beach. there is a great little sweet spot right off the 101 J first took us too years ago. it's not usually too crowded & yesterday it was basically to ourselves. i hedged before we left & didn't bring my wetsuit. i should have. it was totally warm enough for normal people, but i couldn't bring myself to get my head wet/cold, so i couldn't bodyboard :( i could frolic in the surf like i like to though, i did miss J. gots some fun pics below & a little vid.

A had brought down some dungeness crab he'd caught the DAY BEFORE up north. i whipped up some cream cheez, avocado, crab wontons for the fry daddy. A & N had 2 of the omaha steaks. then we had crab legs. soo good & i totally failed on taking a picture.

right now N & A are at the car store for more stuff for the jeep, i've got freshly cubed hashbrowns cooking & once their back, crab eggs benedict w/ hashbrowns & "dirty" bacon will be had.

cat wand fun!

i got my AWESOME cat wand from Poppa last week. $10 that goes right to poppa & totally made of recycled parts. very "green" & seemingly indestructible.

SB250 did NOT pass. no republicans voted for it. this was the bill for spay/neutering pets. such a bummer. my rep Silva (R) didn't vote for it..i even called him!! jerk. so the fight continues. you may see some new stuff on the blog relating to this.

here's a cute vid of B & Monkey heading for N's food. she walks so well alreadys it's amazing. we watched her play with a roll of paper towels (still in it's plastic) for about 20 minutes. she would pick it up & stack it on the table, then take it down, talk to it, play it like the drums. baby toys are cheap!

this afternoon B will come over to play for a couple hours. we got a great cookbook from N's bro with restaurant recipes. in it is red lobster's cheese biscuits. needless to say i've been eating them all weekend. there are 3 ingredients in the recipe, then you just add melted garlic butter to the tops! i'm going to make a fresh batch for J when she comes down. here's a pic below to tempt you. just reheat them for about 10 sec in the microwave the next day & they're almost as good.

i'm thankful i'm not whoever these guys were looking for last weekend. just another saturday in our 'hood. weirdest thing about this video-- at the 5 second mark there is a weird skip on it. i didn't do it. i'm totally thinking a gap is the space-time continuum or something like flash forward.

seriously though, i'm thankful this year for some many things. i'm going to brainstorm freely right now and we'll see what comes out...

my family & friends [of course], my cats, Jody- all she does for cats & her community, i have a job that is tolerable & close to home, N has a job -same deal, our cars are working, our fridge is working!, the noisy people downstairs are gone, we get to go to J&S's for a bomb ass dinner tonite, it's about 80 outside right now, i have indoor plumbing & hot water, a trader joes & del taco across the street, i live in the US [although sometimes i complain, just read the bbc.com front page everyday & you may catch my drift], gas isn't super expensive yet, some may seem a little odd, but whatEVER! ...

right after finishing my lazy weekend post, i looked out the patio window and saw the bee guys. on the roof of the BBQ restaurant, dry cleaner & physical therapy complex next door. i love the show The Exterminators with vexcon billy and his familyon A&E... & the Verminators of isotech on Discovery.

it's raining. and it looks like 10 months out of the year back home. i'm glad i was off work today already..although if i had to go in it would be totally dead anyway. tomorrow i'll be there all day. wow. haha

the grapevine is closed so i'm really glad my bro and ab didn't come down a week later or they wouldn't have been able to leave for a couple days. at least were almost at our water average for the year. the drought this summer will not be to fun.

it looks like our computer is starting to go. it's been shutting of randomly the past week and freezing up with weird fractured lines on the screen (but no blue screen .. yet) it's old and we bought it from goodwill about 4 years ago so it's definitely done it's job. the countdown is on.

it started dumping even harder & sideways as i wrote this. i bet J is loving this. :)
