beaker cat went home!!

another cat had showed up behind the apt a week or so ago. it was tiny, white with orange marks. very friendly & hungry! i've been giving him food while watching him get dirtier living outside. we were hoping to tame him enough to get inside at nites since it's gotten colder out now.

last nite, in the middle of the nite, i realized i'd NEVER checked craigslist about the lost cat. i knew it had been indoor since it was so clean initially. usually folks with indoor cats, don't have collars on them.

so i checked craigs today & found a post from 9/30 for the kitty! his name is Bean (we were calling him Beaker). the poster had 4 great pictures of him. i went outside & grabbed him, had N hold him in the cat room while i called the number listed. turns out she lives in our complex..but at the other end. she was hesitant at first, not wanting to believe it was bean. she'd been to the humane society 3x already & searched local parks & the parking lot too. i let her know, basedon the pictures on the post, i was pretty positive. she came over & was SO HAPPY!!!! it was bean.

i apologized for not checking craigslist sooner, since he would have gone home last weekend. but now i know!! no samson posting on craigs...but he's pretty much ours, staying inside most nites now.

Gettin our inner Bob Ross on..

for xmas we asked for our own Bob Ross paint sets..and we received from D&C. of course the first time was, well, the first time. our canvas sizes are 8x11 & he paints on MUCH bigger, so we had to adjust our paint style to fit half of the painting on the canvas. of course i hadn't gotten paint thinner before we did this, but we do now. :)
FYI..it's super fun but the wet on wet technique needs weeks to dry..ours are still drying

Boomers Drive-In Bellingham

the eat-out-fest of Bham has continued successfully. we went to Boomers this past week. they are similar to Sonic in that youcan drive up & order from your car, but you can also go inside. they've been around up here for ever.
they are ok. we got the baby boomer w/cheese. i do prefer Wins or Morrie's [at this point]. it does take a while to order/get food if they have more than a couple cars ordering. still, always fun to eat in your car & not have to get up.. laziness at it's best ;)

something Old, something New, something Borrowed, something Blue...

we went to Poulsbo last week to visit D&C. i began lamenting over our current sate-of-the-camping-tent situation to D. N has had a little tent we've used a lot, but needs to be replaced. i've been actively looking for a good tent at a good deal. i talked about how i really missed the tent i had growing up- a giant, green, canvas, Coleman tent. no bugs got in, it didn't leak & it was huge. he got a grin & asked if i wanted a tent. turns out he was talking about the tent they bought in the 1970's when N was a baby & used while growing up. it was canvas, no holes, big & Montgomery Ward. we set it up to air out in our yard & it was a snap.

work in cali is Ovah! for both of us. officially unemployed now..OMG. haha totally not worried since we are super hire able for office work & willing to do the shit..

my last day was uneventful. just tried to keep training the kid. N got a goodbye cake, but didn't take a picture.

now it's serious packing time & getting ready for my bday (25th)!

3 days left of work next week, 15th last day! training the new guy has been interesting.

it seems the falcons baby birds & i are syncing up with freedom. they have gotten big, shed their baby feathers & flown the coop. good luck! some new cat pics & randomness.

we went back to Portola Coffee Lab today. i got a mocha this time which they make with gnache. it was excellent. we learned when they are busy they give everyone togo cups. next time we'll make sure & tell them it's for there, since it's so much better in the coffee mugs they have.

we were there during the farmers market. a nice surprise were the food trucks there. they are different each week. this time they had seafood, bakery, sushi, pho-sandwiches & bbq. i went for the bbq, after a debate with myself for seafood..but there's always a next time.

N also got some veggies, a larger cheese tamale & pita bread w/mozzarella balls & fresh taboulie (parsley, lemon juice, onions).

no news is good news down here. we've been busy with work & getting everything together. boring stuff.

once i give my 2 weeks on tuesday, it will definitely seem "more real". other than move fun, i got another crown this week. now i have 15 crowns & 13 actual "teeth" left. the teeth are all composite at this point. if only the crowns were made of gold like the good ole days, then maybe i could have used that equity for a down payment on something.
